Accounts Payable Specialist

Description

The Accounts Payable Specialist performs a variety of clerical and technical accounting duties, including receiving, entering, verifying, and reconciling invoices and credit‑card transactions. This role focuses on accounts payable functions to increase the company’s effectiveness and efficiency within the Accounting Department.

• Manage daily accounts payable functions.
• Enter and import accurate accounting transactions.
• Scan, sort, and match backup documents to A/P entries.
• Code, review, and assign A/P transactions.
• Monitor internal and external correspondence.
• File and maintain A/P department records.
• Process credit cards (issue, cancel, file disputes).
• Track weekly credit‑card activity to investigate improper charges.
• Reconcile vendor statements and obtain missing invoices.
• Utilize computer systems for data entry and processing.
• Apply basic accounting principles and standards.
• Maintain superior organizational abilities and focus on tasks.

Requirements

• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
• Demonstrate strong mathematical and error‑checking skills.
• Communicate effectively in writing and verbally.
• Exhibit service orientation and critical thinking.
• Hold a high school diploma or GED (required).
• Possess at least one year of verifiable accounting experience (preferred).
• Experience with accounting software (preferred).

Compensation ranges from $24.00 to $28.00 per hour, determined by experience, education, skills, and knowledge.
