Description

The position provides administrative support to the property management and engineering teams while delivering prompt, courteous, and high‑level customer service to tenants, visitors, and contractors, in compliance with JBG SMITH’s operational policies and procedures.

• Act as the initial point of contact for visitors and contractors.
• Answer calls, resolve problems, and deliver messages to appropriate parties.
• Greet and direct tenants, clients, and visitors in a professional, friendly manner.
• Coordinate office staff coverage for breaks, lunches, absences, and vacations.
• Manage the electronic work ticket system, including entry, closure, announcements, and report generation.
• Produce service contracts for the complex.
• Process invoices in the online payment system for required approvals.
• Maintain building files and proofread all correspondence and reports.
• Keep tenant building guides and contact lists current.
• Purchase office supplies and equipment as needed.
• Update tracking sheets for utilities, invoices, service contractors, and certificates of insurance.
• Research and compile data for various reports.
• Complete special projects and provide coverage for additional properties when required.
• Apply sound judgment and initiative to address and resolve issues.

Requirements

The role requires frequent sitting, using hands, walking, and occasional standing, stooping, kneeling, or lifting up to 10 pounds, with close‑vision tasks and a moderate noise level. Reasonable accommodations are available for individuals with disabilities.

• Hold a high school diploma or equivalent with 2+ years of office experience, preferably in property management or customer service.
• Demonstrate advanced Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel skills.
• Able to learn internal accounting and other software packages.
• Type at least 40 words per minute.
• Exhibit strong organizational, analytical, and problem‑solving abilities.
• Maintain a professional demeanor, positive attitude, and customer‑oriented approach.
• Work independently, multitask, and adapt to rapidly changing priorities.
• Communicate effectively in interpersonal, verbal, and written forms, including drafting correspondence from notes.
• Possess strong proofreading skills.
• Pass a government background check; a bachelor’s degree is preferred.
• Be punctual and available 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday‑Friday, for front‑desk coverage.
