Provide leadership, management, and supervision necessary for the planning, lay-out, and performing all types of carpentry work in accordance with all applicable plans, specifications, codes, and industry standards. Plan and coordinate the efforts of all craft persons under his/her supervision and provide all resources needed for the work to be done safely, correctly, and efficiently. Work with other foremen or crews to ensure that the work is coordinated and sequenced to maintain the flow of work and the schedule.
This role is classified as Safety‑Sensitive because the duties involve operating equipment, handling hazardous materials, and performing tasks that could impact the safety and health of the employee and others.
- Adhere to and support all company policies, procedures and "The Sundt Way" regarding the work and people you supervise.
- Ensure all crew member evaluations/performance agreements are conducted.
- Verify the accuracy of all time sheets, quantity, and productivity reports.
- Champion and promote a continuous improvement culture with all crew members.
- Participate in all safety, quality, production, and planning meetings.
- Develop weekly and daily work plans, provide feedback on the six‑week schedule, and understand the critical path.
- Set weekly production goals for the crew and execute work on time and under budget.
- Maintain a safe, clean work environment and ensure high‑quality work is performed.
- Maintain positive working relationships with other foremen and crews.
- Provide coaching and mentoring to help crew members perform at their best.
- Set standards of excellence in leadership, safety, quality and productivity for crew members.
- Occasionally stoop, kneel, or bend.
- Use telephone, computer, email, or other electronic devices on a limited basis for communication.
- Comply with all safety standards and procedures.
- Move in and around confined spaces and uneven areas.
- Frequently use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry, or feel objects.
- Climb and maintain balance on steel/wood frameworks, stairs, ladders, and scaffolds.
- Occasionally lift, push, or pull objects up to 50 lb.

The role requires strict adherence to company policies, continuous improvement, safety, quality, and productivity standards, as well as effective communication and coaching of crew members. The job description may be updated and can include additional duties as assigned.
The position demands wearing personal protective equipment, frequent reaching above shoulder height and below the waist, climbing, lifting up to 50 lb, and working up to 12‑hour shifts in varying outdoor conditions, while complying with all safety standards and procedures.
- Minimum four years' experience in the relevant construction market with in‑depth understanding of supervised trades.
- Possess effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Wear required personal protective equipment (e.g., steel‑toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, hard hat, vest).
- Frequently reach above shoulder height and below waist.
- Work up to 12‑hour shifts performing hard physical work in varying temperatures and outdoor conditions.
