Regional Fleet Maintenance Manager

Description

The Fleet Maintenance Manager will oversee maintenance operations across Nova Scotia and Newfoundland, ensuring that all shops run efficiently, safely, and in accordance with company standards. This leader provides direction to Maintenance Managers and Shop Supervisors and enforces required maintenance programs and best practices to meet customer service commitments.

• Coordinate with local Maintenance team and General Manager to ensure efficient day-to-day shop operations.
• Provide maintenance oversight and direction for all shop locations within the area.
• Ensure all shops follow established maintenance policies, procedures and best practices.
• Maintain equipment in a safe and operable condition.
• Use M5 to track all internal and external equipment maintenance and repairs.
• Enforce safety guidelines and ensure shop duties are performed safely.
• Maintain shop facility and grounds to meet company standards.
• Review monthly maintenance expenses versus budget and work with managers to address deficiencies.
• Periodically review VCRs for compliance and completeness.
• Review maintenance and repairs for timeliness and address discrepancies with managers.
• Provide feedback on shop operations to the Maintenance Team and General Managers.
• Deliver on-the-job training as needed.
• Ensure safety lane is consistently used.
• Periodically review road call log.
• Recommend equipment replacement and additional equipment needs to ensure seamless service.
• Provide technical assistance on equipment selection, repairs, budget preparation, performance, warranty negotiations, rebuild decisions, personnel training, parts purchasing, and safety practices.
• Train shop personnel on all aspects of maintenance.
• Assist General/Facility Manager with recruiting, interviewing, or hiring when needed.
• Evaluate shop personnel and refer issues to General/Facility Manager and Fleet Director.
• Comply with all applicable laws, regulations, company policies, procedures, and directives.
• Write moderate‑level correspondence to employees, management, and vendors.
• Effectively present information to all employee levels and executive management.

Requirements

• Four‑year degree in business or related discipline preferred.
• Eight or more years of experience in fleet maintenance and management.
• Waste industry experience preferred.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Word, and Excel.
• Demonstrate strong communication skills with others.
• Ability to stand, walk, use hands, reach, stoop, talk, hear, and climb.
• Regularly lift/move up to 15 pounds; occasionally lift/move up to 30 pounds.
• Extensive travel is required.
• Noise level is usually moderate.
