Senior Sustainability Engineer / Consultant

Overview

Lead sustainability strategy for life‑science projects, managing KPIs, LEED/BREEAM, and stakeholder engagement.

Tasks

-This includes facilitating goal setting, and establishing and managing project work plans for self and junior team members across design and/or construction. -Support the training, development, and growth of junior team members. -Research the latest advances in sustainable technologies for general building design, construction, and specialised manufacturing processes. -Represent the IPS Sustainability function on capital projects. -Manage design teams and deliverables for rating systems like LEED and/or BREEAM. -Undertake LEED and/or BREEAM Assessments across commercial & industrial schemes from feasibility through to final commissioning. -Collaborate with project teams to identify opportunities and feasibility for sustainable design, construction, and operational strategies. Focus areas include energy/emissions, water, materials, waste, and health & wellbeing. -Must conduct oneself with an uncompromising commitment to the welfare of our clients and each other. Must act in an ethical, professional, and respectful manner at all times. -Organise information in a collaborative, knowledge-sharing fashion, collecting and developing lessons learned and case studies.

What You Bring

-Experience with Revit and other CAD tools -10+ years of industry experience in design, engineering, consulting, project management, or construction. -Must be able to effectively interact with varying tiers of the company, from project teams to senior leadership. -7+ years of experience in a Sustainability-focused role. -Be a strong subject matter expert for at least several relevant focus areas (i.e., energy, waste management, materials, civil, etc.). -WELL AP or Fitwel Ambassador -Enthusiastic and resilient, innovative and technically grounded. -To hold/working towards Chartership (CEng or CEnv) with CIBSE, IMechE, IEMA or equivalent. -Be a generalist in the broad topics that Sustainability influences in the built environment, but have sufficient basic technical knowledge to manage quantitative deliverables. -Understand and apply current and proposed Sustainability-related legislation (Building and Planning regulations) -Must display creativity and innovation by continually working to improve solutions, tools, methods, and service delivery system. -Experience in the life sciences or manufacturing/industrial sectors. -Master’s Degree in a related field, or relevant advanced training -Experience in waste management and infrastructure. -Strong written and verbal skills, able to communicate in a concise, clear, and compelling manner (role will be client-facing). -Experience in energy analysis. -Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field. -Energy modeling experience -Must exhibit the ability to build and sustain long-term relationships of mutual value through teamwork. -Ravel duration, if any, is based on the frequency of relevant conferences or meetings with key company and/or client stakeholders. -LEED/BREEAM Assessor - Minimum of five projects completed through to certification. -Experience in evaluating sustainable material attributes.
