Primary duties for the Engineer I position in our Mountain West Civil Group focus on transportation design and plan production for multimodal corridors, roadways, highways, interchanges, and multi‑use trail projects for state and municipal clients. Early‑career work emphasizes using transportation modeling software for design projects. Over the long term, the role may evolve toward project management or managerial responsibilities.
Under the supervision of a lead design engineer or project manager, the Engineer I will use Civil3D and/or MicroStation/ORD as the primary design modeling tools and produce engineering plans for projects of various sizes. The role includes assisting with data collection, technical analyses, and written documentation, as well as interacting with clients and presenting design elements at coordination meetings. Applicants must apply federal, state, and municipal standards, maintain organized design journals, and follow FHU’s Total Quality Management program for all deliverables.
A Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Transportation Engineering from an accredited four‑year institution is required. Candidates should have 0 to 3 years of transportation engineering experience, with internships or related experience preferred. FE/EI certification, and proficiency with Civil3D, MicroStation/ORD, and the Microsoft Office suite are also preferred.
The position offers a salary range of $72,000 – $85,000 annually, with the final offer reflecting skills, qualifications, and experience. Application deadline is February 9, 2025.
