The Project Controls Manager leads, mentors, and develops a team of Project Controls professionals and works in close partnership with Project Managers, Operations, and other cross-functional leaders. This role requires a high level of financial acumen, systems expertise, and visibility across operational functions to support informed decision-making and drive successful project outcomes.
The Project Controls Manager provides strategic and operational leadership for the Project Controls function, with full accountability for financial and schedule management across multiple Engineering, Construction, and Commissioning, Qualification, and Validation (CQV) projects. This role oversees all project controls activities from project initiation through closeout, ensuring accurate schedule management, financial reporting, forecasting, and data integrity.
- Establish and maintain standardized project controls processes, tools, and reporting methodologies.
- Provide oversight and governance of all project controls functions, including budgeting, cost control, forecasting, planning & scheduling, and earned value management.
- Allocate resources, set priorities, and ensure consistent application of project controls standards and best practices across all projects.
- Ensure project financials are accurate, timely, and aligned with contractual and operational requirements.
- Ensure monthly operational revenue and cost data are accurate and current within the ERP system.
- Prepare, analyze, and maintain detailed project financial forecasts, including revenue, cost, margin, and cash flow projections.
- Present project controls and department updates to cross-functional teams and operational leadership.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for project controls systems and tools, including Deltek, Procore, and other reporting platforms with a working level knowledge of Primavera P6.
- Collaborate closely with Project Management, Operations, Finance, and other functional leaders to support strategic planning and execution.
- Generate and deliver operational and financial reports for senior management and executive leadership, as requested.
- Lead, mentor, and develop all Project Controls staff, fostering a high-performance, accountable, and collaborative team environment.
- Provide insight and analysis to support operational decision-making and risk management.
- Analyze project performance data to identify trends, variances, and risks; recommend corrective actions as needed.
- Selects and applies appropriate communication methods for various audiences, including senior leadership.
