Overview
Commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting of transmission and distribution protection systems.

Tasks
-Commission new substations, including power equipment, pilot channels, and communication systems -Interpret and apply test procedures, equipment specs, and protection schemes -Perform troubleshooting, repair, and calibration of substation relaying and control systems -Support field service teams with documentation, coordination, and reporting -Test and commission protection and control relays (electromechanical, solid state, microprocessor) -Verify current/voltage inputs, SCADA metering, trip outputs, and local alarms -Plan and execute tasks efficiently with minimal disruption to ongoing service -Work outdoors and indoors in utility environments with strict safety protocols

What You Bring
-Proven ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities -Completion of a trade school program, technical college, associate degree, or skilled trade certification in welding or a related field -Willingness to travel up to 50% across the continental U.S. -High school diploma or GED required -Experience with data centers, commissioning pilot wire/fiber systems, or full substations -History of successful project work at RMS or similar power industry firms -Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) -Skilled in reading wiring and elementary diagrams -Familiarity with PowerDB or relay test documentation tools -Must pass a background check and pre-employment/random drug screenings -Valid driver's license with a clean record -Communicate effectively with diverse clients, contractors, and teammates -5+ years of experience with relay calibration, commissioning, and checkout of protection/control systems -Strong understanding of three-phase systems, test equipment, wiring, and safety practices -Familiarity with SCADA, fault/SER systems, integration automation gear, and data analysis
