The role involves interpreting layout drawings to construct and erect forms for a variety of concrete structures. The worker builds support systems and bracing for piping, fittings, valves, and equipment, and erects scaffolding and ladders for above‑ground assembly. Additional duties include constructing forms and chutes for concrete placement, mixing cement, sand, and water to produce concrete, grout, or slurry, and finishing surfaces using tools such as brooms, rakes, screeds, and floats. The employee also handles hazardous materials when required and performs other manual labor while assisting crew members.
Key responsibilities include cooperating with the crew to complete tasks, maintaining tools and equipment in safe working order, and participating in training to improve technical and safety skills. The employee operates construction equipment as needed, consistently monitors compliance with safety policies and regulations, and keeps the work environment clean and safe. General carpentry and labor tasks are performed as required, and other duties may be assigned.
Candidates must possess thorough knowledge of safety precautions, strong communication skills, and the ability to work under general supervision while meeting attendance expectations. Physical requirements include the ability to lift, push, pull, carry, and perform repetitive motions with stamina, manual dexterity, and coordination. Required qualifications are at least two years of carpentry experience, a high school diploma or GED, a valid state driver’s license (Class A or B CDL preferred), and OSHA 10 certification is preferred. The work environment is outdoors, often near moving mechanical parts, with exposure to inclement weather, loud noise, dust, and asphalt.
