Furthermore, this position will serve as the regional leader for Wallace Montgomery's Construction Engineer and Inspection program serving VDOT and local clients with inspection, project management, constructability, and project controls needs.
This is a full-time, on-site role for a Responsible Charge Engineer based in Salem, VA. The role involves overseeing and managing engineering projects, ensuring compliance with technical standards, providing technical guidance to team members, and coordinating with clients, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders. Responsibilities also include reviewing designs, reports, and plans for approval, as well as maintaining a focus on project quality, budget, and timelines.

- Previous experience in planning, designing, and overseeing medium to large-scale infrastructure projects.
- Experience in management and execution of highway construction projects with the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) or similar agencies.
- Strong commitment to detail, sustainability, and delivering high-quality engineering solutions.
- Proficiency in practical tools and software applications frequently used in engineering, planning, and geospatial analysis.
- Licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) or the ability to attain licensure within an appropriate time frame.
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Civil Engineering or a relevant field.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess and resolve complex technical challenges.
- Expertise in engineering principles, design processes, and project management, particularly in areas such as highways, bridges, transit facilities, and water resources.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills for engaging with cross-disciplinary teams, clients, and stakeholders.
