As a Water Treatment Plant Operator at JLL you will be responsible for operating and maintaining water‑treatment equipment, ensuring continuous plant performance and regulatory compliance. You will protect client assets, execute inspection and maintenance programs, and continuously improve reliability and value‑maximizing performance.
- Under limited supervision, working alone, assume full responsibility for safe and efficient operating, monitoring, and maintaining of Water treatment plant
- Ensure continuous operation of water treatment systems while maintaining optimal performance and regulatory compliance
- Monitor all treatment processes, chemical feed systems, and equipment operations for comprehensive plant management
- Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance to ensure system reliability and optimal water quality
- May be called upon to assist lower or higher classified personnel and perform assignments for which you are trained and have resources to do safely
- Maintain daily logs of operation, maintenance, and safety activities including test results, instrument readings, and details of equipment malfunctions
- Document maintenance work and system performance for comprehensive operational tracking and compliance reporting
- Perform basic operator preventive maintenance tasks while providing work direction to maintenance workers
- Execute equipment inspection and monitoring programs to ensure optimal system performance and longevity
- Continuously evaluate current maintenance, operations, and reliability methods and implement changes to enhance effectiveness
- Ensure availability of adequate inventory of tools and other supplies to operate the building and water treatment systems
- Prepare and submit purchase order requests while developing sources for stock materials
- Perform periodic checks of inventory levels and equipment conditions for optimal resource management
- Maintain chemical inventory and ensure proper storage and handling procedures for safe operations
- Oversee activities of contractors working within Water treatment plant as representatives of building or tenant operations
- Coordinate with external vendors for specialized maintenance and system upgrades
- Monitor contractor performance to ensure compliance with safety standards and operational requirements
- Identify safety hazards within building and incorporate remediation to ensure staff and occupants work in safe environment
- Implement, administer, and manage safety training programs for comprehensive workplace safety
- Ensure compliance of all regulatory laws and guidelines as they relate to operation of building's infrastructure
- Alert management of building discrepancies and potential compliance issues
- Maintain all infrastructure and compliance documentation including up-to-date building drawings and single-lines
- Develop procedures and operating plans while ensuring proper labeling of all equipment
- Maintain documentation mandated for maintaining regulatory compliance with Federal, State, or Local law
- Provide training and support aimed at expanding capabilities of staff through hands-on instruction
- Demonstrate proper use and care of tools and instruments while giving instruction in basic maintenance and safety procedures
- Recommend relevant outside training courses for enrollment while instilling overall level of professionalism
- Maintain current licensing and pursue additional certifications as required for water treatment operations
- Includes covering additional shifts as needed for continuous plant operations

The position is based on‑site at a water‑treatment facility in Annandale, New Jersey and requires rotating shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays, with flexibility for emergency response. Compensation is estimated between $76,960 and $88,400 annually. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available.
- Must have minimum N-1 License issued by State of New Jersey, Department of Labor and Industry as required by state, local, or other government regulations
- Will be required to satisfactorily complete training courses and state licensing requirements
- Must be high school graduate or possess high school equivalence certificate
- Additional technical training in water treatment or related field preferred
- Will be required to lift 50 lbs., climb ladders/scaffolding, bend/twist body, and stand for long periods of time
- Ability to work in various environmental conditions including confined spaces and around mechanical equipment
- Manual dexterity for precision work with treatment equipment and instrumentation
- Will be required to work rotating shift including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Flexibility to respond to emergency situations and equipment failures outside regular hours
- Strong attention to detail for accurate monitoring and documentation of treatment processes
- Problem-solving abilities for troubleshooting equipment malfunctions and process issues
- Communication skills for effective coordination with team members and management
- Previous experience in water treatment plant operations or related utility operations
- Knowledge of water chemistry and treatment processes
- Experience with SCADA systems and automated control systems
- Understanding of environmental regulations and water quality standards
- Mechanical aptitude with experience in equipment maintenance and repair
