About the Role: We are seeking a motivated and safety-focused Trainee Line Mechanic to join our Transmission team. This is an excellent opportunity to build a long‑term career in the electricity industry while working on high‑voltage transmission and distribution networks under the guidance of experienced Line Mechanics. You will receive structured on‑the‑job training, formal block courses, and ongoing support to develop the skills required to work safely and competently on overhead electricity networks.
Experience: The successful candidate will hold a New Zealand Driver Licence, with an HT (Heavy Transport) licence being desirable or a willingness to obtain one. A minimum of four years secondary education or equivalent is required, along with the ability and commitment to complete all required industry training, block courses, and unit standards. You will ideally have experience working at heights or demonstrate confidence when working above ground level, be physically fit and able to perform manual work in outdoor environments and challenging conditions, and have a strong commitment to health and safety supported by an excellent safety record and a safety‑first mindset. You will bring a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and genuine passion for the electricity and transmission industry, along with good verbal and written communication skills that enable you to follow instructions, work effectively as part of a team, and complete documentation accurately, and you will be reliable, motivated, and committed to building a long‑term career as a Line Mechanic.
