The Assistant Manager – EHS is responsible for developing and implementing health and safety plans, enforcing policies, and evaluating practices and facilities to ensure compliance with legal guidelines. They conduct training sessions, monitor compliance, investigate accidents, and provide recommendations for improvement. Additionally, they communicate guidelines to employees, report on health and safety issues, and develop relevant policies to maintain a safe workplace, focusing on promoting occupational health and minimizing employee risk.
In this role you will create and maintain site‑specific EHS policies and procedures that meet legal regulations and industry standards, conduct risk assessments, and develop strategies to mitigate identified hazards. You will organize and deliver safety training, perform regular site inspections and safety walk‑throughs, record unsafe conditions, and take corrective actions. Investigation of accidents, incidents, and near‑misses will be required, along with preparing detailed reports and ensuring construction activities comply with BOCWA and local regulations. You will also maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of safety legislation, develop emergency response plans, train contractor personnel, lead safety meetings, and keep comprehensive safety documentation.
The ideal candidate holds a technical degree and a diploma in industrial safety management, with basic computer skills and NEBOSH or IOSH certification. A minimum of seven years’ experience in construction safety is required, together with excellent written and verbal communication, strong organizational and analytical abilities, and the capacity to provide efficient, courteous service. The role also demands the ability to present information clearly and respond effectively to sensitive issues.
