- Document pre- and post-work field conditions to make sure that sites are in compliance with permits and environmental regulations and there are no conditions that require mitigation or restoration.
- Observe that wetlands & sensitive areas' identification are in place and that the vegetation management crews are aware of them prior to entering such areas.
- Provide Environmental Compliance and construction oversite on transmission Site Development and Linear Transmission Line construction projects for Duke Energy.
- Ensure compliance with laws and regulations for wetland access, protected species, wood and debris disposal, site control and soil disturbance.
- Interprets complex plans and drawings.
- Responsible for attending pre-construction meetings, constructability meetings, and status meetings as directed.
- Assure that all field operations are in compliance with permits, including road use permits, natural resource protection act permits, Corp of Engineers permits, etc.
- Provides Environmental Oversight and compliance/inspections associated with Transmission Capital Projects and the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) and Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP).
- Monitors and reports to Project Management on status of construction units estimated and actuals billed to date of project.
- Assist in developing recommendations on future R-O-W maintenance requirements.
- Ongoing training and assistance with obtaining industry certifications.
- Manage and oversee site development crews. Responsible for providing oversight to sediment and erosion control or Best Management Practice (BMP) contractors to ensure all measures are installed as per the approved plan.
- Communicate daily with the utility client, contractors, landowners, and the general public.
- Perform duties in a manner that will promote and maintain good public relations.
- Performs all required erosion and sediment, stormwater management and pollution prevention inspections for applicable construction projects.

- Must have solid understanding of the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination Service (NPDES) Construction General Permit (CGP) Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) implementation and inspections associated with these permits and plans.
- Substantial amount of background in the Electric Transmission Construction, Pipeline, Utility field.
- Previous construction crew oversight experience.
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Construction Management, Building Science, or a degree related to these fields.
- Desire to work outdoors in various weather conditions and terrain.
- Basic computer skills.
- Strong public relation skills/ability to interface with the public.
- Valid driver’s license.
- GIS Experience.
- 5+ years’ experience in Site Development work, permitting utility construction, etc.
- Successfully completed the Stormwater, Erosion, & Sedimentation Control Inspector (FSESCI) certification for (FDEP) Florida Department of Environmental Protection.
- CESSWI (Certified Erosion and Sediment/Stormwater Inspector)
- Strong knowledge ANSI Z133 safety standards.

- Having a military background is a plus.
