You will manage a caseload covering housing management matters, including anti-social behaviour, possession actions, disrepair claims, compliance injunctions, succession, and trespass cases. You will also have line management responsibility for two junior housing solicitors and a disrepair case handler, supporting their development and performance.
- Completion of all new starter documentation including signed T&C’s
- Providing clear, practical legal advice to internal teams and stakeholders.
- Collaborating with colleagues across the Group to ensure services are delivered efficiently and provide value for money.
- Taking ownership of cases, identifying risks, and implementing appropriate controls.
- Drafting pleadings, statements, and interlocutory applications, and representing Torus in court (excluding trials).
- Promoting a safe, fair, and inclusive working environment through Equality, Diversity, and Health & Safety compliance.
- Supporting and developing your team through line management, mentoring, and training opportunities.

Torus is seeking an experienced Housing Management Solicitor to join our Legal Services team. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a high-performing, collaborative team, delivering responsive and professional legal support across the Group.
This role requires a candidate who is confident handling pre- and post-issue cases across claimant and defendant disciplines, drafting pleadings, statements, and interlocutory applications, and representing Torus in court (excluding trials).
- Significant experience in housing management law, including possession, disrepair, anti-social behaviour, and injunctions.
- Knowledge of government policy and regulatory expectations in the housing sector.
- 2x Completed references
- Strong project management skills, with flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and workloads.
- OH Health Questionnaire – Fit For Work
- High levels of IT literacy and familiarity with digital tools and new ways of working.
- Proven experience in managing and developing a legal team.
- DBS check (if required for role)
- Right to work verification
- Qualification certificate check
- Qualified solicitor with recognition by the SRA or equivalent professional body.
- Excellent interpersonal, influencing, and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with colleagues, tenants, and external stakeholders.
Benefits
This is a hybrid role, predominantly based in our Liverpool office, with regular travel to our St Helens and Warrington offices in line with business needs. There is flexibility to work from home, however, team days will be held in Liverpool on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday.
