Tasks

-Performs general maintenance tasks around the facility, including door repairs, setups, light mechanical, light plumbing repairs, painting, patching, light bulb replacement, and other general laborer tasks as directed by the Manager -Assists tradesmen with repair, adjustment, and maintenance of HVAC, mechanical, electrical, plumbing systems, and associated equipment as directed by the Manager -Frequent use arms, hands, and fingers to handle, touch, feel, and reach -Performs manual labor tasks such as loading, unloading, lifting, and moving materials -Performs and documents maintenance and repairs in a timely and accurate manner -Maintain a good attendance record, including notification in the event of tardiness and absence -Complies with departmental policy for the safe storage, usage, and disposal of hazardous materials. Maintains a clean and safe workspace -Resolves client customer work order requests on the computer-based work order system -While performing the duties of this job, the General Maintenance Worker is regularly required to stand and walk at eight-hour intervals with occasional scheduled breaks -Performs general building rounds and is responsible for reporting conditions observed

-Must be able to tolerate adverse working conditions due to climate and tolerate extreme temperature changes -Valid state driver’s license with a clean MV record (if operating moving vehicles) -Must be 18 years of age -For internal candidates, they must constantly receive a “meets expectations” job performance review -Good organization skills; disciplined approach to daily activities; takes a sense of pride in all aspects of the job -Competency with basic power tools -Ability to communicate well with customers, managers, and coworkers -Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. -Computer Software: Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Internet Explorer – general experience -The individual is frequently required to climb stairs and ladders -Strong customer service skills -Ability to read, write, and communicate in English required -Significant work is performed inside central plant space, within mechanical/electrical rooms, and/or on rooftops -Ability to calculate figures and amounts -Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations -The individual must regularly lift and/or move up to 70 pounds, at higher than chest level -Completes HS&E training as scheduled; Follows HS&E procedures; Demonstrates safe work practices; Exhibits HS&E best practice culture; Reports unacceptable HS&E conditions immediately -High school diploma or equivalent -Competency with basic hand tools -Ability to work without supervision and appropriately with multiple deadlines -0-1 years in Facility Maintenance or related field -Able to produce a quality work product in a prompt, safe, and efficient manner -Presents self in a professional manner: neat appearance and grooming. -Must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, talk, and hear. -Communicate well with others; clearly write and speak to clients, superiors, coworkers -Any trade certificate (desired) -Works and participates well as a team member
