  • Support Water & Network Compliance: Collaborate with internal teams to ensure drinking water and electricity networks meet all legislative and operational standards.
  • Manage Risk, Audits & Reporting: Maintain the SHE Risk Register, lead internal and external audits, and oversee corrective actions to ensure robust risk management and regulatory compliance.
  • Lead SHE & Environmental Systems: Coordinate and maintain the Safety, Health, and Environmental (SHE) Management System, ensuring compliance with ISO14001 and driving high performance across SHP assets.
  • Drive Business Assurance & Performance: Lead compliance efforts for SHP, manage performance data systems, and ensure accurate reporting across regulatory schemes including CHPQA, EUETS, ROCs, and Drinking Water.
  • Ensure Environmental Compliance: Manage environmental permits and act as the primary liaison with SSE’s Environmental Managers, working closely with site chemist to meet regulatory requirements.

  • Extensive knowledge of SHE regulations, and ISO14001 environmental management systems, with proven experience conducting internal audits and maintaining compliance.
  • Proven ability to engage with regulatory bodies and auditors, confidently representing the business in environmental and safety matters.
  • Strong document management skills, including developing, reviewing, and updating safety-related documents in line with regulatory and corporate standards.
  • Excellent communication, influencing, and leadership skills, with a proactive approach to safety and the ability to drive cultural and operational improvements across all levels.
  • Technical background in science, engineering, or environment, supported by industry qualifications (e.g., NEBOSH), hands-on experience in thermal generation and network operations would be advantageous.
