Description

The Handyperson role is in the Maintenance department and reports to the Property Manager or Building Superintendent. The position involves routine interior and exterior upkeep, responding to emergency maintenance issues, and maintaining a safe, clean environment for residents.

• Monitor building and grounds to ensure a neat and clean presentation.
• Perform minor painting, plumbing, electrical wiring, carpentry, and related maintenance using hand tools.
• Follow all written and verbal instructions and adhere to company policies, especially health and safety procedures.
• Store supplies in appropriate areas and maintain tools and equipment in a clean, orderly, and safe manner.
• Conduct grounds maintenance, including mowing, shrub trimming, flower bed cultivation, and snow/ice/debris removal.
• Remove trash and dispose of it in designated areas.
• Ensure building security during and after jobs; report any security violations to management.
• Report major repair needs to the supervisor and address emergency maintenance or environmental hazards immediately.
• Perform emergency on‑call duties as required or assigned.
• Maintain good eye‑hand coordination.
• Interact with residents and handle complaints with discretion.
• Use hand tools for maintenance, landscaping, and construction tasks.
• Operate power tools such as circular saw, power drill, bench grinder, string trimmer, hedge trimmer, floor cleaner, carpet shampoo machine, drain cleaner, chain saw, and key machine.

Requirements

The job requires the ability to work both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions, performing medium to heavy physical tasks such as standing, walking, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and lifting up to 100 lb., with frequent lifts of 50 lb.

A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred, and 1–2 years of maintenance or construction supervision experience is ideal. Candidates should have basic janitorial knowledge, be able to interact with residents, and be proficient with hand and power tools, including lead‑paint certification.

• Work effectively in all weather conditions, both inside and outside.
• Perform medium to heavy physical work, including prolonged standing, walking, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and lifting up to 100 lb., with frequent lifts of up to 50 lb.
• Possess basic knowledge of janitorial procedures.
• Hold an ALC lead‑paint certification.
