HSE Manager

Description

The HSE Manager will develop, implement and maintain health, safety and environmental policies and procedures to ensure legal compliance and promote a safe working environment across Nu‑Heat’s three sites in Honiton and Exeter. The position is full‑time (40 hours per week) with flexibility, occasional travel for health‑and‑safety meetings and responsibility for fostering a zero‑harm, zero‑waste culture.

• Lead and model behavioural safety culture change across all business levels.
• Develop, implement and monitor HSE policies, procedures and ISO 45001, ISO 14001, SSIP accreditations.
• Conduct high‑risk area audits (LOTO, fire safety, transport, legionella, asbestos) and regular site inspections.
• Perform risk assessments, recommend mitigation strategies, and drive proactive hazard identification.
• Investigate incidents, produce detailed reports and enforce corrective actions.
• Deliver training and support to employees and contractors on safety and environmental practices.
• Maintain records of incidents, training, compliance activities and support emergency response planning.
• Collaborate with management to drive continuous improvement in HSE performance.

Requirements

• NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent health‑and‑safety qualification.
• Proven experience creating risk assessments, safe systems of work and method statements.
• Experience liaising with HSE, NRW, insurers and regulatory bodies.
• Background in manufacturing and distribution environments.
• Strong knowledge of health, safety and environmental regulations and standards.
• Excellent communication, training and influencing skills.
• Proficient in incident investigation and reporting with strong analytical abilities.
