Key responsibilities include developing and maintaining clear documentation of engineering programs, standards, procedures, work instructions, and templates. The engineer will collaborate with design, program management, quality, regulatory, and operations teams to define current and future‑state processes, lead continuous‑improvement initiatives, and evaluate existing procedures for efficiency and compliance. Additional duties involve creating training materials, providing technical writing support, and acting as a trusted advisor during audits.
This full‑time remote position is open to candidates located in the contiguous United States. The role reports to the Manager, Systems Engineering, and may require travel for business purposes. The incumbent will implement standards and best practices for business process management and procedure development across engineering programs.
The role requires strong problem‑solving skills, the ability to gather and analyze information, and independent judgment while seeking input for complex issues. Excellent oral and written communication is essential for editing technical content and building interpersonal networks. Collaboration, planning, adaptability, dependability, and team‑building are emphasized, along with a commitment to NuScale’s safety culture and quality‑assurance standards such as 10 CFR 50 Appendix B and NQA‑1.
A minimum of a four‑year technical degree (or equivalent combination of business administration and technical experience) and at least five years of full‑time experience in engineering process development are required. Candidates must have proven experience writing procedures for complex, multidisciplinary design projects, working in highly regulated environments, and proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Preferred credentials include CBPP certification, experience with NQA‑1 or ISO 9001 programs, BPMN process‑mapping tools, lean or Six Sigma principles, and exposure to power generation or nuclear industries.
The position involves typical office activities such as sitting, standing, walking, and using computer equipment, and may require national and local travel. Employees must be eligible to work under DOE 10 CFR Part 810.
