The Senior Engineer – Mechanical Engineering position is part of the Large Structures team within GE Vernova’s Wind Machine Head Engineering Subsection. The team manages the full lifecycle of mechanical hardware such as large castings, rotor locks, and gearbox mount systems, covering new product introduction, validation, testing, field support, and root‑cause analysis.
In this role you will design mechanical structural parts, create engineering drawings and specifications, and perform technical risk assessments and validation testing. You will collaborate with system, sub‑system and component engineers to integrate designs, manage product‑life‑cycle strategies such as MGPP and MGTP, and maintain a systems‑thinking mindset.
You will also own design‑tool maintenance, oversee risk identification (including dFMEA), and ensure the quality of drawings, bills of materials, and specifications in line with GE and industry standards. Mentoring the team, guiding technical problem solving, and supporting field issue resolution are key responsibilities.
Required qualifications include a Bachelor’s or Master’s in Mechanical Engineering, at least 12 years of product design experience with 7 years in wind or a related industry, and proficiency in CAE (Ansys), CAD (NX), and PLM tools. Desired traits include strong communication, systems thinking, Lean design expertise, and willingness to travel up to 20 % of the time.
