The Maintenance Technician B works under the guidance of a Lead Technician, Maintenance Supervisor, or Maintenance Manager to repair and maintain diesel and non‑diesel equipment and trucks. This role covers a wide range of components such as chassis, refuse bodies, hydraulic and electrical systems, air brakes, engines, HVAC, suspension, drivetrain, and steering. Technicians also perform basic tire work and receive training on new technologies while enjoying stable shift hours and competitive wages.
Key duties include preventative and corrective maintenance on chassis components, refuse bodies, engine systems, suspension, drivetrain, steering, and HVAC. The technician performs line‑maintenance welding and fabrication, provides safe road service when needed, and uses electronic diagnostic tools to identify malfunctions. Completion of company‑required training programs and any additional assigned tasks are also expected.
Candidates must have at least one year of hands‑on experience diagnosing and repairing gasoline and diesel equipment, or be a recent graduate of an accredited automotive technical program. A solid understanding of work‑order labor standards and heavy‑truck systems—including suspensions, steering, engines, transmissions, brakes, electrical, hydraulics, drivetrain, and emissions—is required. A valid driver’s license is mandatory; ASE certifications and a commercial driver’s license are advantageous but not required.
The position offers a rewarding compensation package and a comprehensive benefits program covering health, retirement, stock purchase, paid time off, and additional employee resources.
