Structural Engineer

Description

You’ll take ownership of projects from early design through construction, ensuring quality, coordination, and successful delivery.

• Conduct and/or review construction site observations and prepare follow-up documentation.
• Become part of a growing office with opportunities to influence processes, standards, and client relationships.
• Build and strengthen long-term relationships with clients and project partners.
• Lead the preparation and development of structural design documents and engineering packages.
• Forecast workloads and allocate tasks across project teams.
• Create project scopes, fee proposals, and contract documents.
• Manage additional service requests, billing, permitting responses, and construction-phase support.
• Oversee engineering calculations, analysis, and design for a wide range of building systems.
• Coordinate design details with engineers, modelers, and other disciplines throughout the project lifecycle.
• Work on a broad mix of building projects across the region and beyond.
• Review and comment on shop drawings and contractor submittals.

Requirements

• Ability to design and review gravity and lateral systems across a variety of project types.
• Experience with renovations, building evaluations, or seismic retrofit work is a plus.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required; SE or graduate degree preferred.
• Experience mentoring junior engineers and collaborating with BIM/technical design staff.
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an accredited program.
• 6–10+ years of combined structural design and project management experience.
• Strong time-management skills and ability to handle multiple active projects.
• Clear, confident communication skills with both clients and internal teams.
• Strong background in the design of steel, concrete, wood, and masonry building systems.
