  • Replace worn or defective parts using appropriate tools and methods.
  • Conduct repairs on engines, brakes, couplings, suspensions, HVAC, and other mechanical systems.
  • Use diagnostic tools and equipment to identify faults in mechanical components.

  • Railway Safety training or certification.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Exposure to loud noises, grease, oil, and moving machinery.
  • Physical fitness and ability to lift heavy parts and perform manual labor.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or apprenticeship in mechanics preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic instruments.
  • May require travel to remote locations for field repairs.
  • Minimum 2–5 years of experience in mechanical maintenance, preferably in a rail, heavy equipment, or industrial setting.
  • Knowledge of railway systems, mechanical assemblies, and regulatory standards is a plus.
  • Willingness to work outdoors, in all weather conditions, and on rotating shifts if required.
  • Journeyman certification in Heavy Equipment or Diesel Mechanics (Red Seal in Canada is a plus).
