Wind Service Technician

Description

The role is for a Wind Service Technician in AGL’s Renewables team at the North Brown Hill Wind Farm near Hallett, South Australia. The farm comprises 63 turbines with a total capacity of 132.3 MW and has operated since 2011, delivering clean energy to the region. The position is hands‑on, focused on maintaining and servicing wind‑farm assets to ensure reliability, safety and optimal performance across South Australia and Victoria.

• Perform routine and breakdown maintenance, servicing, inspection, and monitoring of wind farm assets.
• Prepare work records and reports, including data entry into SAP.
• Follow all Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) systems and AGL safety standards.
• Conduct Hazard Risk Analysis and Job Safety Analysis as required.
• Ensure compliance with Safe Access Rules and participate in toolbox and safety meetings.
• Receive Access Authorities and progress to Recipient In Charge (RIC) when needed.
• Supervise contractors and service providers to ensure safe, high‑quality work.
• Provide on‑the‑job training and mentor team members to maintain high skill and safety standards.
• Study assistance, share purchase plan and insurance deals.

Requirements

• Mechanical or electrical trade qualification; electrical preferred, with a “disconnect‑reconnect” licence beneficial.
• HV certification preferred; experience with HV/LV systems, hydraulics and mechanical systems in industrial, commercial or residential settings.
• Understanding of wind farm operations and maintenance for safe, efficient performance.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective collaboration.
• Self‑motivated with excellent time management; able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Valid Victorian or South Australian driver’s licence (depending on asset location).
• Willingness to work at heights and in confined spaces.
• Desirable: GWO training, working‑at‑heights, manual handling, HV/LV rescue, fire awareness, first aid.
