The Performance Expert will instruct individuals in holistic strength and conditioning and resilience, conduct training intake, develop and tailor training plans, prepare and distribute course materials, facilitate training events, grade student work, and document results in required databases.
Performance Experts will assess training impact by distributing surveys, summarizing results in After‑Action Reviews delivered within five workdays, and compiling quarterly reports with data analysis. They will maintain training records, observe instructors, provide feedback, and complete initial instructor certifications.
Instruction will emphasize applying resilience and performance enhancement to unit missions, building professional climates of trust, empowering leaders with communication and counseling skills, and developing critical thinking to overcome adversity. Training covers practical resilience skills, leadership development, and mental performance techniques.
Candidates must hold a master’s degree in Psychology, Counseling Psychology, Counseling Education, Coaching Education, or Kinesiology with an emphasis in sport or performance psychology, and have teaching or coaching experience, preferably with military or DoD personnel. They must possess thorough knowledge of Army structure, missions, regulations, and be evaluated and certified before performing performance‑expert tasks.
Preferred qualifications include certifications or professional association memberships such as the Association for Applied Sports Psychology, Certified Mental Performance Consultant, or American Board of Sport Psychology, or the ability to obtain such certification within one year of hire.
