The Director of Project Management leads and strengthens the project management discipline across the Buildings Services Branch, ensuring architecture and engineering projects are delivered in line with Bodwé’s mission, values, and client commitments. This role collaborates closely with studio and discipline leaders to match project managers to assignments, balance workloads, develop individual capabilities, and align operations with business goals, while also serving as a Senior Project Manager on select initiatives.
In addition to discipline leadership, the Director acts as a mentor and internal coach, fostering a culture of accountability, communication, and continuous learning. The role champions process improvement and works with other directors to implement tools, training, and systems that support successful delivery across all sectors and clients.
- Lead strategic development and oversight of the project management discipline, establishing standards, tools, and best practices.
- Represent project management in firmwide leadership discussions, strategic initiatives, and operational planning.
- Provide mentorship and oversight on project execution, risk management, and client engagement; lead milestone reviews.
- Create and maintain standardized delivery workflows for scoping, scheduling, budgeting, and reporting.
- Promote adoption of project management software and digital platforms to increase transparency and efficiency.
- Mentor project managers across studios, delivering coaching, performance feedback, and development plans.
- Oversee onboarding and ongoing training for project management staff.
- Coordinate staffing and project assignments with studio directors to align capacity and development goals.
- Assist forecasting and workload planning to ensure balanced staffing; resolve resourcing conflicts.
- Support client engagement, including project planning, scoping, contracting, progress communication, and proposal development.
- Monitor and report on project budgets, labor planning, profitability, and earned value; partner with finance to drive financial performance.
- Develop revenue goals and key performance metrics for the project management discipline.
- Maintain necessary travel documentation (Real ID or passport) and a valid driver’s license for commercial travel.

- Require a bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Require at least 10 years of AEC industry experience, with 5+ years in a project management leadership role.
- Prefer PMP certification or equivalent; experience in federal and tribal markets is a plus.
- Demonstrate strong understanding of scope, schedule, budget, risk processes, and digital planning tools.
- Exhibit proven leadership, team‑building, communication, negotiation, and facilitation skills.
- Possess knowledge of contracts, fee structures, and A/E business operations.
- Ability to travel to project sites (up to 10% overnight) and work atypical hours as required.
- Physical ability to conduct site inspections, including climbing, kneeling, lifting up to 30 lb, and prolonged standing.

This exempt position reports to the President of the Buildings Services Branch, manages staff, and offers a hybrid or remote work arrangement with a 40‑plus‑hour work week and up to 10% overnight travel. The role is classified as hybrid or remote and includes standard office duties alongside field visits.
