Laboratory Technician

Description

• Assisting with performing a range of laboratory checks
• Keeping up to date records on the chemical inventory
• Receiving and unpacking deliveries of consumables and chemicals throughout the day
• Preparing sampling kits, including addition of preservatives, and dispose of any unused kits safely following appropriate laboratory procedures
• Maintaining a clean and tidy working environment
• Handling of foods, including nuts
• Maintaining a working stock of consumables, reagents and chemicals including receipt, logging in and ordering to replenish stock levels

Requirements

• Experience of working in a fast-paced environment would be desirable
• Ability to work with minimal supervision independently as well as part of a team
• Previous experience of working in a laboratory setting would be advantageous
• An interest in science, preferably with qualifications related to the science field
• Good time management and organisational skills, attention to detail and ability to cope under pressure
• Demonstrated ability to follow written and verbal instructions, seeking advice where necessary
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
