Collaborates with the care team to provide feedback on care plans for the residents based on their physical, emotional, social and safety needs.
Completes all required mandatory training/education.
Complies with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, and Workplace Hazardous Material Information System/Globally Harmonized System. This includes recognizing health and safety hazards, reporting incidents, fulfilling responsibilities under the applicable legislation, as well as participating in in-services and fire drills. Participates in the ongoing Fire Prevention, and Pest Control programs and any other programs as required.
Serves beverages and resident meals in dining room as requested.
Performs nursing care procedures in accordance with the standards of resident care as set out in the established policies and procedures.
Maintains effective communication and good interpersonal relations with residents, families, physicians, and other departments. Uses the appropriate lines of communication with supervisory staff.
Ensures residents’ living space and personal belongings are kept clean, free from safety hazards, and organized according to residents’ personal choice.
Provides ongoing support to co-workers and acts as advocate for residents and families to ensure residents’ rights are protected.
Completes documentation accurately and legibly according to policies and procedures.
Complies with all corporate policies and procedures.
Provides care to the residents including cognitive, social, and emotional support, according to their care plan and in a manner that promotes comfort, safety and well-being.
Follows routine practices in all aspects of nursing care and complies with other infection control protocols as directed, e.g. outbreak management.
Assists in monitoring the outcome of specific interventions regularly and offers information or suggestions for improvement.
Supports residents’ optimal level of functioning in their activities of daily living while respecting their rights and choices.
Responsible for observing and reporting/documenting changes in the residents’ physical and emotional condition, as well as monitoring vital signs. Maintains health records in compliance with legislations (i.e. Privacy Act). Participates in shift report to oncoming staff.
Participates in and adheres to continuous quality improvement standards.
Assists with other duties to ensure the smooth functioning of the residence, including housekeeping and laundry duties, maintains adequate stock of supplies, as required.
Utilizes equipment and supplies effectively and in accordance with policies and procedures, manufacturer’s instructions, and health and safety regulations.

Has obtained certificate from an approved Health Care Aide or PSW program. Certified Resident Services Attendants will need to complete training related to the care they are providing.
Ability to work with minimal supervision and to evaluate and meet resident care needs, demonstrating initiative and problem-solving skills.
Dependable, responsible and an ability to work well with others in a team environment and independently. Demonstrates a positive attitude necessary to meet the goals and standards of the residence.
Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally, in the English language, nurturing excellent human relations with residents, families and other team members.
Certified in Emergency First Aid, and CPR is required.
Previous experience as a Health Care Aide/Resident Services Attendant working with seniors is considered an asset.
Minimum of grade 12 education required.
