Senior Estimator (Nationwide)

Description

As a Senior Estimator you will supervise a team of estimators, price and bid multiple projects, and work under an experienced professional to learn standard operating procedures and build relationships with the Preconstruction team. You will have a major role in coordinating and supervising estimates that shape communities, and you’ll benefit from Gilbane University’s multi‑dimensional training resources, including in‑person and webinar‑based programs.

• Lead project estimating coordination with senior estimating manager, preconstruction lead, operations, and business development teams.
• Coordinate site services cost development with operations and senior estimating manager to meet contract and trade requirements.
• Produce conceptual cost estimates and budgets from limited information, providing clear costing assumptions.
• Review and interpret all project plans, requirements, and specifications.
• Coach and mentor a team of estimators to develop large, multi‑disciplinary estimates.
• Recommend appropriate contingency and allowance values for each estimate.
• Determine labor and equipment costs and assess project risks.
• Align estimates with project logistics and schedule for complete coordination.
• Assist operations in developing bid packages and analyzing competitive subcontractor bids.
• Participate in scope review meetings to support operations and purchasing teams.
• Engage with clients to ensure satisfaction and communicate project information.
• Develop accurate cost models using Gilbane’s costing software.
• Track and report current material and labor price trends, including escalations.
• Determine lead times for equipment and materials and integrate them into the project schedule.
• Contribute value management strategies to reduce price and increase value.
• Collaborate with owners and design teams to reconcile cost estimates.
• Identify marketplace escalation factors for specific materials and labor rates.
• Document conceptual pricing assumptions with supporting evidence.
• Substantiate all aspects of final estimates.
• Present estimating deliverables externally, including interviews and presentations.
• Support a positive and inclusive work environment and assist with junior‑level tasks as needed.

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Construction Management (or equivalent experience).
• 5–10+ years of relevant estimating experience.
• Ability to lead the estimating process from design phase through bid submission.
• Proficiency with On‑Screen Take‑off, Destini, and Sitework software tools.
• Skilled at presenting estimating deliverables internally and externally and participating in pursuit interviews.
• Experience estimating multiple facility types (residential high‑rise, healthcare, interiors, institutional) and various delivery methods.
• Strong relationships with industry partners (owners, designers, subcontractors) to develop estimating deliverables.

Benefits

Salary ranges from $112,200 to $175,600 depending on location, plus benefits, a generous profit‑sharing/401k plan, and competitive health and welfare coverage.
