Fire Alarm/Low Voltage Drafter

Description

This role joins HCI's design department, where the CAD Operator contributes to fire alarm and low‑voltage projects across multi‑family, high‑rise, military, and commercial buildings, delivering accurate documentation and supporting project workflows.

• Design and draft fire life safety and low‑voltage shop drawings for various building types.
• Collaborate with the HCI Design Manager to deliver accurate designs and timely submittals.
• Maintain electronic and physical engineering libraries, including job folders and technical documents.
• Apply company and National CAD Standards to all shop drawings.
• Research and resolve design issues by evaluating multiple alternatives.
• Coordinate designs with other trades and building owners.
• Interpret blueprints, specifications, schematics, and product manuals.
• Identify out‑of‑scope work and design flaws, and suggest efficient solutions.
• Respond to design questions and communicate project status to management.
• Perform document control tasks, plan take‑offs, and complete required paperwork.

Requirements

• Proficient in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office; experienced with Bluebeam.
• Knowledge of CBC, CFC, CMC, CEC/NEC, NFPA 72, UFC codes and municipal codes (preferred).
• NICET, RCDD, or similar certification (preferred).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Self‑motivated, organized multitasker with reliable attendance and good follow‑up.
