As part of VINCI Facilities, you will provide technical expertise in plumbing and mechanical systems across UCL’s complex estate, including laboratories, heritage buildings, and modern teaching facilities. The role requires strong diagnostic skills, adherence to water hygiene standards, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to maintain and improve critical infrastructure.

- Participate in on-call rota and occasional out-of-hours work.
- Assist with installation, modification, and commissioning of plumbing systems.
- Perform planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on plumbing and water systems.
- Provide technical input on materials and equipment.
- Collaborate on minor works and upgrade projects with contractors and project managers.
- Diagnose and repair faults in mechanical systems (calorifiers, pumps, valves, heating systems).
- Ensure compliance with building regulations and water hygiene standards.
- Support Legionella control procedures and maintain accurate records.
- Respond to breakdowns, leaks, and emergency call-outs promptly.
- Maintain accurate job records in CAFM systems.

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer (Plumbing) to join our team at University College London. This role involves delivering high-quality plumbing and mechanical services across a diverse academic estate, ensuring compliance, safety, and operational efficiency. You will work on planned maintenance, reactive repairs, and support project activities within a multi-building environment.
- Understanding of Legionella control and water regulations.
- Unvented hot water qualification (G3).
- Reliable, self-motivated, and capable of working independently or as part of a team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 (or equivalent) in Plumbing or Mechanical Engineering.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and schematics.
- IPAF, PASMA, or confined space training.
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
- Proven experience in industrial/commercial plumbing within complex estates.
- Professional and customer-focused, able to work sensitively around academic activities.
- Electrical safe working knowledge.
- Knowledge of heating systems, boilers, and calorifiers.
- Competence with IT-based job management systems.
- Experience in education or research environments.
