The main responsibilities include efficiently and effectively performing electrical maintenance of all relevant assets. Work will be assigned from a planned preventative maintenance (PPM) schedule or in response to a reactive work order raised by our client representatives or our own personnel on site. All planned and reactive tasks will be managed through to completion, including fault diagnosis and sourcing parts where applicable. Must be able to demonstrate that awareness of best working practices and that these are followed at all times.
Use of all relevant tools and equipment within safety guidelines as necessary for the completion of works ensuring full compliance with EQUANS Guidelines and Controls e.g. Risk Assessment, Site Safety, Fire Safety, Control of Infection and Hazardous Substances.
Supervise, communicate and develop other trades staff and assess/evaluate the quality of the work.
All employees have a duty to report any accidents, complaints, defects in equipment, near misses and untoward incidents, following EQUANS procedure.
Communicate with wards/departments to ensure awareness of planned/re-active works in their area and ensure completion to their satisfaction.
Complete all Task/Risk Assessment sheets relating to work.
Carry out emergency repairs as required (which may require overtime).
Actively participate in the operation and control of all engineering planned maintenance schemes and undertake essential repair works and general maintenance activities to plant and non-medical equipment.
The objective of the department is to operate and maintain a physical environment in which healthcare can be delivered to the patient. The main elements being the maintenance of both building fabric and services e.g. external and internal finishes, fittings and fixtures, plumbing, electrical and mechanical services, piped medical gases etc.
To support, advise and action Policy and Safe Working Procedures as a Competent Person (Electrical).
To work in accordance with the requirements of Health Technical Memoranda (HTM’s) and any other relevant statutory compliance requirements.
Carry out planned preventative maintenance inspections and commission and test in accordance with published procedures.
Recording of planned and reactive maintenance in the site CAFM systems via electronic data devices.
Monitors the building services and report defects to the Technical Supervisors.
Undertake fault finding on complex hospital infrastructure including low voltage power and distribution systems, lighting systems including Emergency lighting. UPS, IPS supplies and standby generators. Using cause effect analysis and detailed examination to gain a solution and use of all relevant drawings and schematics.
Provide feedback on PPM results in relation to building related PPM issues and Fire Safety.
Ensures that all activities proceed in a safe manner compliant with Statutory Regulation, CDM, Good Practice, etc by compiling procedures, monitoring standards and maintaining records.
Compliance with all statutory requirements in relation to safe working practices and safe operation of plant, equipment and services. Keeping records of all activities as per all Health Technical Memoranda (HTM) and Quality Assurance requirements and to providing professional advice and guidance on all aspects of building services maintenance and repair.
Complete all report sheets and test certificates as necessary and mark up any drawing alterations.

Working directly to the Technical Supervisors, the post holder will have the required skills to ensure the safe and continuous operation of electrical engineering services and building plant as part of a flexible maintenance team, including specialist subcontractors to deliver work to the highest of standards for our clients.
Must be able to obtain Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) clearance.
Awareness and understanding of contract KPI’s to ensure compliance and effective service delivery
Familiar in the use of Building Management Systems (BMS).
To be certified Appointed Person in critical systems including Electrical (Low Voltage). This requires the post holder to be trained, certificated and reassessed at regular intervals, generally three yearly.
Recognised Electrical/Engineering Apprenticeship – HNC, ONC, City & Guilds, or equivalent experience.

This role would be a permanent full-time role working a shift pattern consisting of 4-on, 4-off. This will include 2x days of 07:00-19:00 and 2x nights of 19:00-07:00 followed by 4x days off.
