Requirements

Ahern is offering a Sprinkler Fitter Apprentice role in our Des Moines location as part of a five‑year apprenticeship program. Apprentices work side‑by‑side with journeyman sprinkler fitters to install automatic fire‑protection systems. The position is governed by a collective bargaining agreement, and participants will complete on‑the‑job training along with a five‑year correspondence course to become journeymen.

Qualified candidates must be at least 18 years old, hold a high school diploma or equivalent, possess a valid driver’s license with a clean record, and pass a drug screen and physical that includes lifting and climbing. Successful applicants are self‑starters with a strong mechanical background, a positive learning attitude, and the ability to thrive in a fast‑paced construction environment.
