  • Implement and maintain internal controls, policies, and procedures across property accounting.
  • Assist in workers’ compensation and insurance renewals.
  • Oversee completion of replacement reserves, ensuring timely reimbursement from lenders.
  • Prepare/review documentation for lender reserve requests and capital expenditure tracking.
  • Prepare the corporate budget.
  • Supervise, mentor, and provide performance feedback to Property Accountants.
  • Oversee the preparation of property-level financial statements in compliance with GAAP.
  • Assist in tax preparation and compliance by preparing property-level schedules and reviewing documentation for filings.
  • Prepare the corporate accounting financial package including monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, ad hoc reports, bank reconciliations, and workpapers.
  • Review monthly and quarterly work papers, reconciliations, journal entries, and financial packages prepared by Property Accountants.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and recommend enhancements.
  • Conduct all business in compliance with company policies, Fair Housing, ADA, FCRA, and applicable laws.
  • Ensure timely reporting of property financials to the Director of Accounting, investors, and lenders.
  • Support due diligence for acquisitions/dispositions, including financial review and system integration.
  • Partner with asset management team to ensure accurate recording of income, expenses, and accruals; identify opportunities to add portfolio value.
  • Review and analyze operating results, identifying trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Coordinate with external auditors during annual property audits and reviews.
  • Review annual operating budgets and forecasts for assigned properties.
  • Monitor compliance with loan agreements, escrow requirements, and lender reporting obligations.
  • Support the Director of Accounting and CAO with special projects and analyses.

  • Strong GAAP knowledge and property management accounting expertise.
  • Advanced analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience, including 3+ years in a supervisory role.
  • Proven leadership skills with ability to coach and develop a team.
  • Experience with property management/accounting software (Yardi strongly preferred).
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to work cross-functionally and present findings clearly.
  • Real estate or property management experience strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; advanced Excel required.
  • CPA or master’s degree required.
