Civil Engineer - Site Development & Permitting (Developer Side)

Description

This is a unique opportunity to join a respected developer’s Charleston office and play a key role in the front-end execution of projects — overseeing due diligence, entitlements, permitting, and utility coordination across multiple states.

• Review and interpret civil and architectural plans, ensuring project readiness prior to construction
• Impactful Role: Manage all site development and permitting from a developer’s perspective — working directly with municipalities, engineers, and consultants
• Manage all aspects of site due diligence, permitting, entitlements, and utility coordination for build-to-suit retail projects nationwide
• Oversee third-party engineers, surveyors, and permitting consultants to ensure compliance and schedule alignment
• Collaborate with internal development teams, municipalities, and consultants to streamline project timelines
• Support the development team by preparing and maintaining project documentation from concept through construction start

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related field (PE license a plus, not required)
• Strong knowledge of utilities, stormwater, grading, and permitting processes
• Excellent communication and coordination skills across multiple stakeholders
• 5–15 years of experience in civil/site development, land development, or preconstruction
• Ability to read and understand site and construction plans
