All Press Team members follow documented procedures and are responsible for delivering products that meet or exceed established specifications. Responsibilities include efficiently changing dies, pre‑staging tooling, advancing and stretching extrusions to tolerance, measuring and documenting dimensions, cutting extrusions to length, and performing quality checks throughout the process. Operators also maintain accurate production records in EPICS and on log sheets, and they communicate material shortages or non‑conforming parts to supervisors.
Extrusion Press Team members at Apogee Architectural Metals are cross‑trained in several roles, including Die Setter, Stretcher, Saw Operator, and Saw Tail Operator. The crew works together to produce quality products at maximum rate while ensuring all sales orders are extruded on schedule. Team members wear required personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, steel‑toe shoes, heat‑resistant gloves, ear plugs, hard hats, and, for Die Setters, high‑temperature protective sleeves. Safety and respect for tooling, equipment, and property are emphasized, and the extrusion area is kept clean.
The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, reliable transportation, and crane‑operations training. Candidates must be able to stand for at least eight hours, lift a minimum of 50 pounds repeatedly, and frequently bend, twist, push, and pull while handling product. Basic math, computer skills, and the ability to read tape measures, micrometers, and work instructions are essential, as is consistent attendance.
Apogee offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, life, and disability coverage for employees and their dependents, as well as incentive plans, a 401(k) with employer match, and an employee stock purchase plan. Paid time off, paid holidays, tuition reimbursement, an employee assistance program, wellness initiatives, and training and career progression opportunities are also provided.
