Reporting to the Head of Origination, this role contributes to the origination and early-stage development of renewable development projects (wind, PV and BESS) by providing support in site identification, screening, land access agreements, grid connection solution and early-stage planning processes. Community and stakeholder engagement is a key element to this role as is the ability to build a robust business case for greenfield prospect sites.

  • Work together with members of the technical team to support the electrical grid connection process.
  • Provide continued support to projects during pre-construction as required.
  • Support the production of Environmental Impact Statement documents, Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation referrals and any other statutory applications required for project development.
  • Work effectively across multidisciplinary teams to understand project requirements and objectives.
  • Support the stakeholder consultation process with local and/or State planning authorities, other regulators, general public, landowners, and other stakeholders.
  • Support members of the technical team to develop layouts throughout the development process including supply and management of relevant technical information and report.
  • Support the management of external consultants to undertake studies throughout the development process.
  • Support consultation with landowners, negotiation of landowner agreements, legal dealings, and other correspondence as required.
  • Provide on-ground support for project needs across environmental approvals, stakeholders and land access functions.
  • Work predominately with the Head of Origination and assisting the Head of Development to progress projects from site identification through to feasibility / planning studies.

This is an excellent opportunity for a renewable energy enthusiast who is keen to learn, with 2+ years experience.

  • Tertiary qualification (Renewable Energy, Planning, Environment, Geography, Business, Law, Engineering or Science related discipline)
  • Experience in GIS and/or other graphical software is beneficial
  • Analytical, research and problem-solving skills.
  • Be willing to learn and attempt new tasks.
  • Current Driving License
  • Keen interest in renewables
  • High level of passion for renewable energy and community development.
  • Willingness and flexibility to travel to project sites
  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience as a project development officer, renewable developer or consultant within a related field such as land and approvals, commercial, stakeholder, environmental and planning or project engineering.
  • Ability to maintain effective and collaborative relationships across diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience in Microsoft Office Suite
  • High levels of self-motivation and organisation.
  • Project Management skills; budget, schedule and scoping experience
  • Ability to be agile and resilient when managing diverse workloads with multiple priorities and delivering work to a high quality and on time.
  • Proficient communication and written skills.
