Project Executive - Commercial

Description

• Develop and maintain strong client relations with municipal, K‑12, and public safety clients.
• Lead multiple project teams on commercial construction projects with strategic direction.
• Train, mentor, and coach team members to continuously improve project execution and delivery.
• Collaborate with Business Development and Marketing to secure new water and wastewater opportunities.
• Advise senior leadership on pursuits, client development, and bid strategies.
• Review and negotiate contract documents to ensure clear scope, specifications, and regulatory compliance.
• Coordinate interests of Wharton‑Smith, clients, and third‑party stakeholders to meet contractual obligations and achieve client satisfaction.
• Promote collaboration, communication, and accountability across project teams.
• Supervise and review project personnel work to ensure compliance, quality, and accuracy.
• Oversee project financial performance, including cost tracking, forecasting, and profitability analysis.
• Champion safety practices by ensuring effective policy implementation by Project Managers and Superintendents.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related field.
• At least ten years of progressive experience in commercial construction, especially municipal, K‑12, and public safety projects.
• Advanced knowledge of construction processes and regulatory requirements for NC/SC work.
• Experience with Design‑Bid‑Build, CMAR, and Design‑Build delivery methods.
• Ability to interpret civil, mechanical, electrical, and structural drawings, specifications, and contracts.
• Strong organizational, leadership, analytical, and problem‑solving skills with a proven track record managing complex projects.
• Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and achieve results through others.
• Strategic thinking to plan and manage project pipelines over a 3–5‑year outlook.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Capable of managing multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
• High energy, integrity, and commitment to exceptional client service.
• Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, and industry partners.
