

Integrated electric utility delivering clean hydroelectric power across British Columbia via generation, transmission and distribution.
* Applies Safety by Design principles in all designs.
* Completes designs and deliverables to meet all regulatory compliance applicable to BC Hydro.
* Complies with BC Hydro Project and Portfolio Management (PPM) Practices.
*Responsible for establishing design and review plans, strategies and resource requirements for the project. They work with Construction and Contract Management, the Engineering teams, Quality Management, and Field Operations to ensure that technical support is provided during manufacturing, construction and commissioning and that technical issues are resolved in a timely manner.
* Prepares technical and project specifications, cost estimates, request for proposal (RFP) and request for tender (RFT) documents for material and equipment purchase and installation.
* As "Owner's Engineer", reviews external engineering partners' line designs to ensure technical compliance of BC Hydro Standards, good design practices and constructability criteria.
* Work closely with project managers to manage the scope, schedule and cost of the project and are responsible for managing the project technical risks including project system integration with the existing transmission system and other issues.
* Acts as Professional of Records (POR) for various transmission projects.
* Reviews work of the team and of consultants and contractors to ensure accuracy, achievement of required results, and adherence to accepted engineering practices.
* Resolves site queries, attending site meetings and performing site inspections during the construction phase of projects.
* Maintains appropriate commitments to project teams, and coordinates design activities with multi-disciplined project team members.
* Delivers accurate designs for 60kV to 500kV overhead electrical transmission lines that will meet BC Hydro standards and specifications as well as constructability requirements. This will include route selection, line layout, structure configuration and conductor selection.
* Maintains complete project documentation with respect to transmission line design and construction, including all completion packages, records and requirements.
* Provides guidance and instructions, advice and technical guidance to other engineers and technical support staff.
* A degree in Civil/Structural or Electrical or Mechanical Engineering and registered, or eligible for immediate registration, as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) with Engineers and Geoscientists of BC (EGBC) or another engineering regulatory body within Canada.
* Proficiency in use of PLS-Pole and Tower may be considered an asset.
* Proficiency in use of line design software PLS-CADD and generation of Plan & Profile drawings.

* A minimum of 8 years experience in transmission line design.
