The Wind Farm Technician II at RWE Clean Energy supports the operation and maintenance of one or more wind farms and related facilities. The role ensures safety, maximizes availability, and performs scheduled maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, training, and safety exercises. It also maintains accountability for tools, equipment, and vehicles, provides technical guidance to the O&M team, and records service activities in the digital maintenance management system.
- Ensure all operation and maintenance activities are performed safely according to site policies.
- Conduct acceptance and performance tests on systems and equipment after planned maintenance or outages.
- Perform assigned safety tasks and serve as backup for personnel at other RWE sites when needed.
- Assist with turbine maintenance, including services, major component work, replacement, and troubleshooting.
- Support Balance of Plant procedures, such as substation and collection system maintenance.
- Uphold the company’s values and behaviors in all duties.

The position requires a personal weight limit of 270 lb and the ability to climb wind towers daily, open and close hatch doors, and identify safety hazards. Technicians must balance in confined, swaying spaces on turbine towers and walk across small surfaces, and they must be capable of pushing, pulling, or lifting tools and equipment up to 50 lb.
- High School Diploma required; Associate’s Degree in Sciences preferred.
- Minimum four years of experience in operations or maintenance of power generation, transmission, or distribution (or equivalent technical college degree).
- Current Journeyman or Master Electrician license, or Wind Tech Certificate acceptable.
- Valid unrestricted driver’s license in good standing.
- Prior wind turbine experience preferred (e.g., Vestas, GE, Acciona, Nordex).
- Military technical experience in electrical, electronics, or mechanical fields is a plus.
- Willingness to relocate within one hour of the site.
- Proficiency with hand and power tools and knowledge of environmental and safety policies.
- Ability to meet tight deadlines, work independently or as part of a team, and travel to job sites as assigned.
- Intermediate computer skills; proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and Teams.
- Capability to prepare and present technical presentations with assistance.
- Strong problem‑solving, self‑starter attitude, and ability to troubleshoot electromechanical systems.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic drawings and perform LOTO procedures.
- Knowledge of electromechanical relays, hydraulic accumulators, linear transducers, motors, power electronics, motor drives, AC/DC converters, and network communication protocols (desired).
- Ability to complete JHA/LOTO/Tailboard forms independently.
- Initiative to work with minimal supervision and make discipline‑specific decisions.
