  • Prepares insurance program cost breakdown for use in estimating.
  • Collaborates with Global Business Unit business and legal colleagues in the identification and evaluation of insurable risks arising from prospective project activities, insurance coverages and solutions for risk-related problems as well as available risk financing alternatives for applicable projects.
  • Participates in contract negotiations with legal partners on areas of contractual risk transfer and applicable insurance positions.
  • Assists in the development and training of both department personnel and the organization as a whole.
  • Maintain relevant local Australian insurance programs
  • Coordinates enrollment into controlled insurance programs for applicable projects (in both OCIP and CCIP situations).
  • Coordinates the interface between Bechtel and client personnel, brokers, and insurers regarding insurance programs including preparing underwriting data, coordinating site visits and support duties as requested.
  • Develops insurance strategies in response to client and Bechtel requirements.
  • Seeks, and disseminates within the company, lessons learned from insurance partners to inform and enhance project execution strategies.
  • Issues instructions to all projects regarding premium reporting and allocation, accident reporting and claims procedures and other matters relating to insurance administration.
  • Initiates recommended language and proposes alternative provisions for liability and insurance matters (including procurement responsibility) in proposals, contracts, subcontracts, and other documents.

  • Relevant Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university.
  • High level of commitment to a quality work product and organizational ethics, integrity and compliance.
  • Demonstrated track record of developing and implementing insurance risk management strategies, as described above.
  • Adapts well to and initiates change.
  • Understands and implements appropriate insurance programs in engineering and construction business
  • Highly developed interpersonal, written and verbal communications skills.
  • Has a good knowledge of the insurance industry and current state of market trends in pricing and terms and conditions.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of relevant work experience in the construction insurance industry
  • Team player, change agent, strategic, creative with exceptional project management skills.
