Assistant Controller

Description

• Coach and develop accounting staff
• Complete assignments on-time, within budget, and with highest level of quality.
• Contributes to the development and maintenance of financial reporting, planning and budgeting systems
• Oversee tax filing process(es) where appropriate
• Oversees the preparation of month-end, year-end and periodic reporting as well as required filings
• Assist with reporting to Senior Leadership and/or external agencies
• Assist with appropriate administrative and project support tasks supporting the needs of the project team and office.
• Ensures that all corporate and required accounting policies and procedures are documented and followed by the organization
• Routinely proposes and produces more effective ways to accomplish assignments.
• Assist with Cash Flow forecasting
• Productively collaborates with others and leads or encourages teams to achieve success and camaraderie amongst each other.
• Act as liaison with auditors and external accounting team(s)

Requirements

• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent experience
• Understands, follows, and enforces Huitt-Zollars' business process.
• The employee must be able to concentrate on details, work under deadline pressures, apply sound logic and judgment, and prioritize tasks and responsibilities
• Minimum 5 years' experience. With at least 2 years of Management experience
• Experience working within an architecture, engineering or construction setting is desired
• CPA Firm Experience desired but not required
• **Architecture and Engineering industry experience required**
• CPA designation desired but not required
• Understands and follows HZ QMS and Quality initiatives. Ensures quality control measures are being adhered to on projects and daily operations.
• Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds on occasion
• Knowledge of ERP systems, such as Deltek high preferred
