The incumbent works in a Shop environment preparing vehicles, equipment, and parts for painting. Mixes paints, removes finish from bodies, mask and paints all equipment with spray painting equipment or hand brushes, polishes finished coats. Follows Equipment Quality Standards in the application of paints and coatings and fleet identification. Repairs damaged bodies, truck cabs, fenders and hoods. Uses fiberglass/plastic fillers and repairs plastic and composite materials. Properly handles hazardous materials and waste. Must be respirator trained and annually qualified. Keeps records of respirator usage and logs paint usage for Air Quality compliance. May assist in instructing or giving direction to helpers, apprentices, or other employees. Incumbents will assume responsibility for reasonable safeguards, proper use and handling of materials, equipment and facilities. Must possess a valid class C driver's license. Job assignments may be subject to travel, rotation, transfer changes of shift, work hours, and/or workdays.
