Extrusion Setter

Description

The role is based in the extrusion department and is responsible for carrying out tool and line changes to keep production running at optimum efficiency while meeting corporate and legislative standards. The successful candidate will ensure production plans are met on time, maintain quality standards and support continuous improvement.

• Set up tools on various extrusion machines to produce high‑quality parts.
• Perform scheduled tool changes quickly to minimise changeover time and machine downtime.
• Meet production plans on time, within cost and quality targets.
• Verify first‑off samples against visual and dimensional specifications.
• Monitor line speeds against targets and correct deviations promptly.
• Train new starters and apprentices in collaboration with the training coordinator.
• Record production data such as scrap, outputs, tooling issues, downtime and material reconciliation.
• Conduct material and colour changes according to the production schedule and replenish raw materials.
• Diagnose and resolve extrusion processing problems to maintain quality and reduce scrap.
• Separate waste into designated containers for safe disposal.
• Assist with extrusion tooling maintenance as needed.
• Follow safe working practices and maintain a safe manufacturing environment.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives in all activities.
• Produce first‑off samples for dimensional and physical testing.
• Operate workshop machinery and overhead crane safely.
• Perform visual, dimensional and stress quality checks.
• Apply health, safety and environmental standards for self and others.
• Work 4 days on / 4 days off (day and night shifts).

Requirements

• Demonstrate knowledge of extrusion machines and ability to set up lines using setting sheets.
• Exhibit problem‑solving, critical thinking and analytical skills.
