Solar Project Manager II

Description

• Manages and maintains the project schedule from preconstruction to project closeout.
• Performs audit functions to ensure compliance.
• Development of processes and procedures
• Complies with Employee Handbook, Code of Conduct, and Company Policies & Procedures.
• Functional competencies include building strategic partnerships, accountability, customer focus, system thinking, and excellence
• Ensures the project team and all associated subcontractors understand and adhere to the client contract, related exhibits, and project-specific agreements.
• Offering regular and direct feedback on performance and goal progress.
• Attends work regularly and punctually, as scheduled or expected.
• Follows processes for systems and communication lines on site and ensures implementation is consistent.
• Communicates variances to clients and executive management.
• Leads and supports the site team in technical, quality and safety, utilizing system in place.
• Participates in additional projects as assigned by Director and VP.
• Strengthens and continually maintains client relationships.
• Adheres to and ensures all site team members understands standard operating procedures.
• Ensures that the overall terms of the main contract are passed on to the subcontracts.
• Manages rotation schedule to ensure proper staffing coverage during project construction.
• Manages quality control program to ensure processes are consistent and implemented according to the plan.
• Supports developing projects to complete all required permitting activities before commencement.
• Estimating work efforts
• Directs, guides, and coaches discipline managers to ensure site activities are understood and follow established processes through quality checks.
• Manages site personnel.
• Ensures training is provided and certifications are maintained on field staff to comply with EMS requirements.
• Manages Contracts and Change orders.
• Manages the project plan and hosts kick-off, update, and closeout meetings.
• Provides tasks and assignments that challenge and stretch employees’ responsibilities.
• Accountable to continually reinforce safe behaviors and correct “at risk” behaviors.
• Drawing Quantity Takeoff
• Conducts timely, effective performance reviews in accordance with RES guidelines.
• Manages project-required construction permits as a prerequisite for project inception.
• Scheduling software (MS Project, Primavera 6)
• Presents, supports, and leads-by-example with a safety and quality-oriented attitude.
• Interpreting state rules and regulations
• Provides excellence in the management and delivery of the project in line with the client’s expectations.
• Manages purchases of project-related materials and equipment.
• Supports recruiting and hiring of outstanding talent.
• Participates in hiring and selection process to fill positions on the team.
• Follows safety and security procedures and determines appropriate action. Reports potentially unsafe conditions and uses materials and equipment properly.
• Managing and supporting employee development and growth.
• Utilizes Safety Management Systems (SMS), Quality Management Systems (QMS), Environmental Management Systems (EMS), and technical procedures.
• Maintains a complete understanding of all contractual obligations for the project and documentation of variances.
• Manages one or more direct reports.
• Aligning individual and team objectives to department and company objectives.
• Provides the required documents, drawings, and other forms to active projects for monitoring and maintaining the EMS.
• Communicates regularly with direct reports on goals, accomplishments, and information on policies.
• Allocates budget, costs to date, forecasts cost to completion, procurement, and materials management.
• Leads by example to show that safety is the most important function, ensuring that all employees follow safe practices while working.

Requirements

• Continuous improvement such as Lean, Six Sigma, Total Quality Management
• Advanced level of knowledge in:
• Ability to travel 75-100% Domestically
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or construction management or equivalent work experience (8 years) is required.
• Understanding environmental concepts, including permit requirements
• Writing skills
• Demonstrates leadership and expertise in eyes of client group.
• A valid driver’s license is required
• 5+ years of project management experience is required
• QA/QC Processes
• Conducts regular discussions with employee(s) on personal development. Comfortable with empowering others.
• Communication, leading meetings, engaging teams, public speaking, presentations
• Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, PPT, Outlook, Visio)

• 4+ years of Solar EPC experience is preferred
