Technical Sales Engineer

Description

• Use knowledge of the market and competitors to develop unique selling propositions and differentiators.
• Coordinate and support industry functions, trade shows, and conferences, providing feedback and information on market and competitive assessments.
• Identify potential customers and decision makers within the customer’s organization.
• Lead technical customer engagements independently from initial pre-RFQ stage to post-delivery field support.
• Understand and convey customer requirements.
• Independently generate pricing for custom opportunities and foster collaboration with engineering to support new opportunities.
• Identify customers’ needs and sales opportunities to support future growth.
• Identify product development needs and respond to functional and technical elements of RFIs/RFPs.
• Provide input monthly for business development reports.
• Support domestic and international sales representatives with inquiries.
• Research and build relationships with new customers to align company product development strategically.
• Resolve customer issues or difficulties in a manner consistent with company mission, values, and financial objectives.
• Perform technical/product training for both sales representatives and customers at targeted accounts.
• Support forecasting for both monthly and annual planning.
• Maintain accurate records of target accounts, opportunities, quotes, projects, contacts, and correspondence in company-approved databases.
• Maintain an expert level of product knowledge and applications.

Requirements

• Proven track record of successful customer and interdepartmental interfacing.
• Proactive problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and multiple projects under tight deadlines.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions.
• Available for travel up to 25%.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Visio and SolidWorks.
• Ability to work with challenging customers and make sound decisions.
• Solid understanding of network communications technology.
• Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent.
• Strong product knowledge and technical competency.
• Solid understanding of basic electrical and mechanical specifications.
• Planning skills with the ability to think ahead over a 1-3 year time span.
• 1-5 years of engineering experience.
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and presentation skills.
• Advanced computer proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to read architectural, mechanical, and electrical blueprints.
• Ability to execute an action plan/task and achieve objectives with minimum supervision.
• Articulate technology and product positioning to both business and technical users.
