The welder references blueprints, collaborates with the lead to determine job requirements, gathers materials, and performs layout per specifications. They set up and adjust welding machines, operate welding guns on steel, aluminum, copper and other materials, and inspect welds, re‑welding defective joints and cleaning slag. Additional duties include operating cutting torches, applying weld stencils, notifying the lead or inspector when work is ready, and maintaining a clean, safe work area.
Candidates must have proven welding experience and be able to read blueprints. Attention to detail, a strong commitment to quality, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a fast‑paced team are required. Strong communication skills, a high school diploma or equivalent, and preferably a welding certification are desired.
