The Rigger position is responsible for setting up rigging on construction projects and manufacturing plants. The role requires interpreting plans, selecting and inspecting rigging equipment, attaching slings and other devices, and moving loads safely using hoists, chain falls, snatch blocks or come‑alongs. The rigger also serves as a safety observer, assists in lift planning, signals operators, and completes required documentation.
Candidates must have at least four years of related experience, a high school diploma or GED, and NCCER, NCCCO or equivalent rigger certification. They must be knowledgeable of MIC health and safety programs, be able to read blueprints and load charts, perform basic math calculations, and obtain crane‑operator certification if needed. Strong problem‑solving, communication, and the ability to work with limited supervision are essential.
The position demands physical stamina for up to 12‑hour shifts, including lifting up to 50 lb, climbing, and working in varying weather and noisy environments. Employees must wear appropriate personal protective equipment and adhere to OSHA, company and client safety regulations. Travel up to 90 % of the time and a typical 50‑hour work week are expected.
Compensation is $37.00 per hour plus performance‑based merit increases.
