Perform project engineering on process systems as assigned by the Manager-Process Engineering. This may include cleaning-phosphating-powder paint systems, electroplating, liquid painting, vacuum systems, vacuum brazing, waste treatment, material handling and related automation. Activities are typically related to engineering/design/construction of new processes or improvements to manufacturing operations at S&C Electric's Chicago Headquarters. Travel to other manufacturing locations will sometimes be required.
Carrying: Occasional carrying of light objects
Ongoing engineering tasks will include preparation of design criteria, feasibility assessments, treatability and pilot trials, functional description and sequences of operations, calculations, equipment selection, drawings, sketches/layouts and specifications. Team Member will be expected to author process quality specifications, define process limits, analyze failures and process improvements and complete production acceptance/qualification of materials.
Capital project engineering tasks will include preparation of cost estimates, schedules, purchase documents, drawing reviews, handling of drawings and submittals and field work. Team Member will be expected to complete field survey work necessary to validate layouts/plans prior to, during and after construction and/or rearrangement, including transcription of existing building plans into CAD based drawings. Project management tasks will include design, construction, commissioning, establishment of preventative and predictive maintenance processes, requiring interface with maintenance and production. the Team member will be required to coordinate work with outside contractors and engineers on assigned projects as well as in-house maintenance. Exercising of sound judgement and decision making for assigned responsibilities is expected.
